Welcome to the home of San Lucas Ranch, LLC
Located in the foothills of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, the ranch is just 4 miles east of Solvang and 35 miles north of Santa Barbara, California. The San Lucas Ranch is truly a very special and magical place because for three generations, the Vickers-Crawford family have worked tirelessly to preserve and maintain the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Environmentally friendly, the ranch today has more oak trees on the property than in the 1930's.
Our educational programs range from a one-day, three-hour introduction to a more in-depth three-day experience spread over Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In our one-day program, participants receive an overview of our ranch operations, emphasizing sustainable practices such as rotational grazing, creek clearing, and fire protection through weed abatement and cattle grazing. The three-day program offers a deeper dive, covering the land's ecology, wildlife, and agricultural practices through hands-on sessions and specific field trips, culminating with a branding demonstration and a thank-you lunch.
